Scamper: "Welcome to the 280th Carnival of the Cats! I'm hosting this week, but I also wanted to make a public service announcement."

Scamper: "As protectors of our humans, we need to keep vigilant, so I'm hear to warn you, fellow kitties, of something I've discovered. It's very scary and very loud, and I'm sure that if I wasn't here to protect the Momma and keep watch, it would come after her too."
What is this scary monster Scamper is talking about? But first, let's get the carnival started!
Hakuna from Blog d'Elisson shows us how cardboard scratchy-pads are multi-functional and are a must for every kitty.
Robyn shares some cuddling time with a special person over at the Poor Mouth.
The dynamic duo Nardo and Bruwyn have fun toying with Laurence's sleep schedule (and his toilet) over at This Blog is Full of Crap.
At Watermark, we find some gorgeous portraits of Boo and Belle. Cats should always be photographed this way instead of catching us in undignified poses, RIGHT Momma?
As you can see though, humans can take a regal pose and definitely make us look undignified. On the bright side, we rather like that crown and wish to have one purchased immediately.
Also at Watermark, we find that humans can write pretty good poetry after all. As long as you make it about us, we definitely approve of our humans doing this.

Scamper: "Oh no! Here it comes now. I hope the vile creature doesn't see me!"

Scamper: !!!!!!

Scamper: "Phew, he didn't see us! Isn't he scary? I was just sitting here watching my birdies when this awful racket started. I was so scared I couldn't move. Then I saw him. So far, he hasn't gotten very close, but I think it's only a matter of time."
While Scamper ponders what to do, let's continue the carnival:
Baby Trouble is really excited over getting some milk at No Deep Thoughts. We think he's a little less Baby Trouble and a little more Baby Adorable.
Even though Ruse may be a big boy, Momma Grace still reigns supreme with her bath-giving skills at Momma Grace & Company.
Over at Elms in the Yard, Her Ladyship shows her human neighbor who has the upper hand when it comes to the cat-human relationship. We agree wholeheartedly at the result.
Cheysuli celebrates in a big way over at The Cat Post Intelligencer. 1,000 posts, wow, that's a lot for a kitty or a human! Be sure to drop by and say congrats.
StrangeRanger and family continue to remember the lovely Ivy, while Maddie knows something is different and tries to figure it out. Let's all keep Maddie and family in our thoughts.
Oh wow, lots of cat-blogging milestones for this carnival! Samantha and Mr. Tigger from Life From A Cat's Perspective celebrate their 1000th post as well. Congrats! Be sure to drop by and leave a comment for a chance to win a prize!

Scamper: "THIS is also why he's so scary. He eats things, then spits them out in a big ball! I mean, I know I do that with my floofy furs, and they don't look nearly as nice when they come back up, but I don't want him doing this to ME! I must be strong and show him that I am keeping an eye on him."

Scamper stares down the beast.

Scamper: "Yay! It worked! Ha ha, look at him run! He knows I'm keeping an eye on him and that he's going to be in big trouble if he tries anything with us and the Momma. See, humans, THIS is why you need kitties around!"
Yes, Scamper, you are a formidable opponent and I'm grateful to have you. Though I'd be happy if you'd let me pet you once in a while, too.
That wraps up this week's Carnival. Thanks for letting us host! Next week's carnival is at Kashim & Othello and Salome
